7 Things You Don’t Want to Hear About Your Website

Jul 7, 2020 | Website

Remember a decade ago, when websites were still new and web designers just HAD to add “cool” background music or extra flashy elements on the web pages they built for their clients?

Over the years, web design trends have evolved a great deal. But even if you don’t see much of these things anymore, there are still plenty of outdated websites out there that can make people cringe.

Without further ado, here are 7 things you DON’T want to hear about your website and what to do about it.

1. Your website looks like the 90’s…

An outdated design can turn people away very quickly! When it comes to the image of your business, you need to keep up with the trends. And if this means giving your website a makeover, don’t postpone it! Otherwise, you can easily end up losing your customers.

2. Look! So many flashy elements!

Flashy elements are definitely a thing of the past! People today are in a big hurry and, once they land on your website, they really don’t have the time to slalom through a lot of “bling bling” in order to find what they were looking for. Keep in mind that anything that distracts the user’s attention is yet another reason for them to leave.

3. Your website looks weird on my phone…

More and more people today use their mobile phones to search for what they want or need. And if they land on your website, but your design isn’t responsive, chances are they won’t even stick around for your website to load! Today, website’s need to be 100% mobile friendly so make sure yours is too, before you start losing customers.

4. Your website is so slow!

Unless your website loads in about 3 seconds of less, chances are high your visitors won’t stick around to find out who you are as a business. If your website takes forever to load, it may be time to optimize it for speed. ASAP!

5. I can’t find your contact details on your website…

The whole purpose of having a website is to introduce yourself as a business to your customers and “get” them to convert! The most important part of that process is having your contact information extremely easy to find. If your visitors need to click too many times to find your phone number or address, it’s definitely time to do something about it!

6. Cool website, but who are you again?

A great website should send a message about who you are as a business. So make sure users can find that out the moment your website loads in their browsers! Unless you’re Mark Zuckerberg and own a world famous business like Facebook, chances are your visitors need a hint or two to learn what you do and what’s your offer.

7. Your website copy is difficult to read…

Last but not least, you definitely don’t want to hear this about your website! The content you put on your homepage and other pages of your website should be easy to read and should send the right message about you business.
